DANCE AND SOCIAL INCLUSION
limits and possibilities
Abstract
Dance was historically linked to social life as a form of artistic expression in different historical periods. Currently, it is considered a strong tool for social inclusion, as it goes beyond the transformation of body movements into poetic meanings and manages to make the subjects who benefit from it undergo a life transformation in search of dignity and well-being. In this article, dance is presented in its inclusive dimension, based on reports collected for the master's thesis in the final phase called “Dance as an instrument of social inclusion: a case study”. The approach is qualitative and the research instrument was the interview with 4 former students and their mothers. of the social project “Ballet para Todos” linked to a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) financed by the public power, in the municipality of Varginha-MG. The analysis of the narratives was carried out using the triangulation technique, which articulates the narratives to the context in which they were produced and the dialogue with the authors. The reports point to subjective and objective achievements of the former students through participation in the social project, highlighting the need for public policies for the excluded segments of our society, even if they do not have the capacity for radical transformation of the current social order.
