This article analyzes the crucial role of leadership in promoting innovation in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting how the irruption of generative AI has democratized access to technological tools and accelerated organizational transformation. Definitions of innovation are reviewed, emphasizing its social and economic dimension, and the importance of leadership in detecting opportunities, managing risks and fostering collective creativity is highlighted. The text presents models that identify organizational factors that stimulate or inhibit innovation, such as institutional support and creative freedom. It also contextualizes the need to innovate in today's complex environment, characterized by volatility, uncertainty and rapid obsolescence, which requires leaders who are resilient, empathetic and capable of fostering continuous learning and collaboration.
