ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE APPLIED TO THE FINANCIAL MARKET
ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES IN A CONTEXT OF CONTINUOUS CHANGE AND LEARNING
Abstract
In all professional fields, AI is taking on an increasingly central role, serving as an assistant
that complements the decisions made by an individual or a management committee. In
this sense, it is important to emphasize that all responsibility cannot be transferred to AI,
especially when decisions are linked to professional judgment that entails analysis and
responsibility, understanding the risks it faces. In this article, we present the main
characteristics that make AI attractive, and which specifically apply to the financial market.
We focus on aspects that speak to the advantages of artificial intelligence, but also pay
attention to warnings about aspects that could lead to risky situations for investors or
companies. By studying the behavior of different players in the Argentine financial market
from January 2022 to March 2025, we can identify and analyze the main operations
supported by AI, achieving significant benefits in terms of efficiency. The financial market
provides the right conditions for studying the AI development process, learning from its
mistakes, adjusting algorithms to optimize processes, and thus achieving better portfolios.
However, there are other aspects that require greater attention from the human
component, those related to the moral and ethical aspects of decision-making. The
intuition that a market leader possesses is, for now, difficult to translate into an algorithm,
or at least difficult for AI to incorporate, although clearly, this is by no means definitive.
Therefore, the financial market incorporates AI from a fundamental perspective as a tool
that can provide significant advantages, complementing, from a higher perspective, the
expert analysis of those at the forefront of an economic and financial decision.
