From Artemisia Gentileschi to Mariana Ferrer
the secondary victimization of raped women and the criminal process
Keywords:
Artemisia Gentileschi, Mariana Ferrer, Dignity of the victim, Humanization, Criminal ProcessAbstract
The present paper aims to make a comparative analysis of two emblematic criminal cases of sexual violence and the treatment given to the victims in such cases, as well as the inquisitorial nature of both. To this end, the case of Artemisia Gentileschi (Rome, 1612) and Mariana Ferrer (Brazil, 2021) is presented. Through space-time comparisons of these criminal procedures, the present investigation seeks to contribute to the realization of a criminal process attentive to the perspectives brought by the humanized victimology movement, ensuring due respect to the victims, especially of this type of crime, avoiding secondary victimization.
