Abstract

The county of Três Pontas, with an estimated  population of 56,156 (IBGE 2012), as well as the micro-region, is economically characterized by the growth of the industry and services sectors, in addition to the traditional agricultural sector, demanding services in the administrative, legal and educational, formal and non-formal, public and private initiative. This paper aims to demonstrate which are the main factors that hinder the actions of entrepreneurs of the county of Três Pontas in the process of internationalization of their activities. Specifically, it is intended to verify which aspects have a direct impact on the business, to understand in which issues the companies suffer the greatest difficulty and the mechanisms used for the internationalization process. In this sense, the study is justified in order to point out such difficulties faced by unresponsive companies and contribute to the discussion on ways to minimize these obstacles. The study uses bibliographic research on international trade, theories about internationalization of companies, advantages, disadvantages, risks and difficulties in the internationalization process, ending with a case study with medium-sized companies, Três Pontas / MG
