Management of the Care of a Person with Diabetic Foot in Longitudinal Monitoring

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus affects people's quality of life due to its complications resulting from ineffective control of the disease; the diabetic foot is among the most frequent. Objective: to describe the care management of a person with Diabetes mellitus and complex wound in longitudinal follow-up. Method: retrospective, descriptive experience report, with data collected from an instrument developed by members of the extension project. Description of experience: 58-year-old woman diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and systemic arterial hypertension for 19 years. Grade 1 lesion on the 1st left metatarsal, presence of floating blister on the upper edge, presence of pyosanguinolent exudate, irregular edge and with hyperkeratosis, foul odor, weak pedial pulse, with sensory-motor impairment and neuropathy present. Result: construction of the Singular Therapeutic Project. Final considerations: the need for longitudinal follow-up with emphasis on the lesion, health education and emotional support was observed.
