Comportamento ortoréxico em estudantes de Nutrição

Abstract

Problem: Nutrition students present risk behavior for the development of Orthorexia Nervosa. Objective: To identify risk behavior for the development of Orthorexia Nervosa in nutrition students. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out with female students of the Nutrition course aged 18 years or older from the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil. A questionnaire with information on age, height, self-reported weight and year of course was applied; the Silhouette Scale to assess the perception of body image and the ORTO 15 to identify orthorexic behavior. Results: 182 students participated in the research. It was found that 88.5% showed orthorexic behavior, regardless of age and year of study (p>0.05). It was observed that 71.4% were eutrophic and that 34% were dissatisfied with their body image. However, there was no association of orthorexic behavior with nutritional status and body image perception (p>0.05). Conclusion: Most nutrition students showed orthorexic behavior, regardless of the year studied, nutritional status, body perception or age. Such findings point to the need for further studies on the complex and still poorly elucidated topic of Orthorexia Nervosa, especially among Nutrition professionals who should have an adequate and not obsessive relationship with food, considering the biological, social and cultural aspects of food. healthy.
